2008 Kentucky Mountain Bike Racing Point Series.
Guidelines
Entry
Everyone who participates in any of the races listed on the 2008 Point Series Calendar will be automatically entered into the series, but will still need to qualify to be eligible.
Start times
All of the races, except for Ceasar's Creek, will begin at the same time. The Expert and Pro/Semi pro men will start at 11:00 am. The other categories, women, sport, and beginner, will shortly follow and will be posted in the race fliers. This will attract riders living 3-4 hours from the race location by eliminating the need for an overnight stay.
Categories
Will be divided into Mens and Womens elements.
- Pro/Semi-pro
- Expert
- Sport
- Beginner
Classes
The Mens and Womens categories will be further divided by age.
- 18 and under
- 19-29
- 30-39
- 40-49
- 50+
Payouts
Better payouts attract competitors. An increase of Pro/Expert riders will increase overall turnout as many experts will invite fellow sport and beginner riders to participate.
Payout Format
All fees collected from pro and expert men ages 19-49 will be pooled and divided accordingly. If all spots are filled the payout will offer racers 110% payback.
Payout for Women's Expert/Pro classes includes all age categories.
Promoter reserves the right to keep any payout percentages not filled by participants.
Point Series Scoring
Points will be awarded to top 20 finishers in each age/level classification: 20pts to 1st down to 1 point for 20th place and under. All riders who complete the race receive 1 point (DNF's will not receive points or be counted as a race completion). Only a racer's top 6 finishes will be applied to the series total. Points will only be awarded for Cross Country (XC) Short Track (STX) and Time Trial (TT)
Qualification
Riders must complete 6 Kentucky Point Series races to be eligible for Series final results.
Tie Breakers
In the event of a Series Points total tie, the winner will be determined by most recent race that both competitors raced one another. If tied racers have not raced one another, then final tie breaker will be determined on the last race of the season. Otter Creek.
Changing Classes
A rider can move up into a higher class, but any accumulated points will not transfer.
Pay Dirt
Individual promoters may offer Pay Dirt towards discounted or waived entry fees, but it WILL NOT result in points towards the series.
Any conflicts or protests will be addressed by individual race promoters. Decisions made by individual race promoters will be final.
Kentuckiana Championship Race
This is the DINO race at Brown County held June 1st. Next year Kentucky will host the Championship race and it will alternate every year.
(this is not part of the KY Point Series scoring)
Scoring at the Kentuckiana Championship Race
These points apply for both men and women (separate points for each gender). Points are awarded for overall finishes of all age groups in each class. No points are awarded for SS, Clydesdale, First Timer, or kid's races.
In the event of a tie in points the title will go to the state with the fastest rider in the Pro/Semi class. If for some reason there are not any Pro's the title will go to fastest in the expert class.
The State with the fastest rider will present that rider with the custom Kentuckiana Trophy that they will keep and display at the location of their choice until the the following year. At the next Kentuckiana Championship race the Title Trophy will be up for grabs again. Think Stanley Cup.
